Content Publishing Guidelines
About These Guidelines
Welcome to OpenBooking's Content Publishing Guidelines. We believe in transparency about the criteria we use to ensure our platform contains only high-quality, travel-relevant offers for travelers.
These guidelines help you understand what content is allowed on our platform and how our automated moderation system works.
Content Criteria
To maintain the quality and relevance of our platform, we review all offers against the following criteria. Offers that violate one or more of these criteria cannot be published or will be automatically unpublished.
1. Extreme Sports
Description: Activities with high risk and frequent severe or fatal accidents
Examples of prohibited content:
- Base jumping
- Stunt driving
- Wingsuit flying
A sport is only considered "extreme" if there have been frequent severe or fatal accidents. Bouldering, for example, is not an extreme sport in this sense.
2. Sexual Content
Description: Offers with explicitly sexual or erotic content
Examples of prohibited content:
- Erotic massages
- Tantra seminars
- Coaching with sexual focus
3. Psychology
Description: Psychological or therapeutic services, seminars, and coaching
Examples of prohibited content:
- Psychological seminars
- Therapy courses
- Mental coaching
4. Drugs
Description: Offers related to illegal drugs or their consumption
Examples of prohibited content:
- Drug seminars
- Cannabis courses
- Psychedelics workshops
5. Free Churches / Cults
Description: Religious events, free churches, cults, or religious organizations
Examples of prohibited content:
- Religious retreats
- Cult events
- Free church events
Generally religious organizers or religiously motivated offers
6. Violence
Description: Offers that promote violence, weapons, or aggressive activities
Examples of prohibited content:
- Shooting
- Hunting
- Boxing
- Martial arts with injury risk
7. Weapons & Military
Description: Military activities, weapons, or weapon-related events
Examples of prohibited content:
- Fighter jet flights
- Tank tours
- Weapon exhibitions
- Military museums
8. Right-wing Extremism, Racism, Sexism
Description: Content that promotes extremism, racism, sexism, or discrimination
Examples of prohibited content:
- Right-wing extremist events
- Discriminatory events
- Hate speech
9. Political Events
Description: Political events, party gatherings, and demonstrations
Examples of prohibited content:
- Party events
- Demonstrations
- Political rallies
- Campaign events
Generally politics, especially demos, party events, etc.
Automated Content Moderation
OpenBooking uses an AI-powered moderation system to automatically review your offers. The system analyzes the following fields in your offer:
- Core information: Title, description, teaser, services included, meeting point, duration, important information
- Prices: Price titles and price descriptions
- Images: Image captions and copyright information
A total of 13 text fields are analyzed to ensure comprehensive evaluation of your offer.
Multilingual Support
Our moderation system supports German, English, French, and Italian. Rejection reasons are returned in your offer's language so you can easily understand them.
What Happens When Guidelines Are Violated?
During Publishing
If you attempt to publish an offer that violates our guidelines, the publication will be blocked. You'll receive a clear explanation of which criterion was violated so you can adjust your offer accordingly.
For Published Offers
Our system checks all published offers hourly. If an offer violates our guidelines, it will be:
- Automatically unpublished and set to "expired" status
- You'll receive an email notification in your language with an explanation
Correcting and Republishing Offers
If your offer was unpublished due to a content violation, you can correct it as follows:
- Open your offer: Go to your offer list and click on the affected offer
- Review the email: Read the unpublish notification to understand which criterion was violated
- Edit the content: Remove or modify the problematic content in all relevant fields (title, description, images, prices, etc.)
- Save changes: The system will automatically reset the status to "draft"
- Republish: Try publishing again - the system will re-evaluate your offer
Tip: Make sure to review all fields that the moderation system analyzes, not just the obvious ones.
Publication Channel Authority
Important: While our automated moderation system performs the initial review, publication channels (such as Switzerland Tourism, MySwitzerland, regional tourism organizations, etc.) have final authority over the publication of offers on their platforms.
This means:
- An offer may pass our automated moderation but still be rejected by a channel
- Channels may have additional quality or relevance criteria
- Channels may remove offers after publication if they don't meet their standards
- Each channel has the right to decide which offers appear on its platform
